Final Project
INTRODUCTION
FINAL PROJECT
Use your character from your previous project 1, animate a 5 to 10 second physical action sequence.
Choose an action sequence that involves physical movement, such as a fight, chase, or sports-related activity. Develop a clear understanding of the desired outcome, key actions, and the emotions you want to convey in the scene.
Create a storyboard that visualises the key moments, actions and emotion of the scene. Incorporate variety of camera shots, angles and visual continuity to enhance the visual storytelling.
Create a project in Adobe Animate. Set the setting as 24fps, 16:9 aspect ratio with 1280 x 720 (HD720p) resolution.
Perform all the processes that you have learnt in the previous lesson to produce the final animation such as animate the animation from rough, tie down, clean up and colouring.
The animation should show the quality of appeal, fluidity, flexibility and clarity and the understanding of cinematography and editing.
Edit the final animation with sound effects and background music.
Submission should include:
Storyboarding (pdf) - 10%
Final animation (mp4 format) -20%
E-portfolio (Exercises, Project 1,2 & Final) - 10%
Upload progress and final work on your e-portfolio and update the link on MYTIMES platform as submission.
Deadline for submission is by Week 14.
PROCESS
Before I can start an animation task, I need to design the story version, and I need to explain the direction of movement of the characters.
As for the movements of the characters, I chose to walk and jump. Through the previous study, I found that my animation foundation was still weak, so I decided to do another consolidation training at the end of the semester.

FINAL SUBMISSION
REFLECTION
Experiences
I felt both nervous and satisfied when I started to create this animation involving body movements. I start by conceiving an exciting scenario that challenges my skills and creativity. This process requires careful planning, from the production of the shooting script to the completion of the final product. One of the most important parts of this is trying different ways to achieve complex movements. There were times when I was frustrated, especially when certain parts didn't go as planned. But these challenges also became an opportunity for me to improve my skills and learn more about the basics of animation, such as timing, segmentation, and weight. I feel truly proud to see the finished product, as it shows all the hard work and creativity.
Observations
Throughout the project, I have observed the importance of preparation. Every well-designed storyboard saves a lot of time during the animation stage. In addition, subtle changes in body movements, such as fine tuning of balance or follow-up effects of limbs, also become clearer. Observing real-life reference movements played a crucial role in grounding animation in authenticity, even if the scenes themselves tended to be exaggerated. I've also noticed that small tweaks, such as changing the action curve or refining the key-frame easing in and out, can significantly affect the overall flow and believability of the animation.
Findings
One important lesson is that understanding a character's personality and motivations is crucial to understanding how they grow and change. This understanding gives the animation a clear purpose and gives the action more meaning. I also find it important to keep things organized. Breaking the task down into smaller pieces not only makes the process easier, but also ensures consistency. Experimenting with different software tools gave me a deeper understanding of their unique features and challenges, which also enriched my technical skills. These experiences will undoubtedly influence the way I approach projects in the future, emphasizing the importance of a deep understanding of the story and precise control of the technology in the work.
