Week 2-Introduction to Motion Graphics

Dynamic graphics is a form of expression that combines graphic design, animation, sound and text. Its purpose is not only to attract visual attention, but also to effectively convey information and emotions.
Compared with traditional animation, the focus of dynamic graphics lies in the dynamic presentation of text and graphics, rather than character narration.
It is widely used in advertising, movie titles, video production and information dissemination, and is a powerful tool for storytelling and communication.

Week 3-Compositing Toolkit

Composition refers to the arrangement and organization of visual elements.

It includes basic visual elements such as lines, shapes, colors, light and shade, texture, form and space. These elements will be arranged purposefully according to the principles of art and design (such as contrast, balance, rhythm, unity, etc.) to achieve visual beauty and effectiveness of information communication.

Unity
Unity makes the work look coordinated and complete, while variety adds visual interest through contrast. The combination of the two can create a composition that is both harmonious and attractive.
Balance
Balance keeps the picture visually stable, asymmetry enhances tension, and symmetry conveys tranquility.
Movement
The sense of movement guides the flow of sight, making the picture more rhythmic and full of life.
Rhythm
The rhythm gives the picture a sense of flow like music, guiding the audience to watch the work rhythmically.
Focus
(or Emphasis)
Emphasize that by highlighting the key points, the audience can have a clear focus and the picture can have more layers and direction.

PRACTICAL: ADVANCE LAYERS, KEYFRAMING, BASIC ANIMATION

This is the poster I made in Photoshop

Firstly, I will adjust the parent-child relationship based on the video provided by the teacher in class.
I will bind a group of sublayers such as the goldfish, shark and leaves in the image to the controller. In this way, when the parent layer moves, the sublayers will also move accordingly.

Experiences

During this creative process centered around rhythm, I utilized keyframes to control the visual rhythm of the graphic layers, such as the changes in light and shade and the zoom effects. This was a process filled with experimentation and refinement, and I gradually learned how to align the timing of the keyframes with the intended rhythm. While using Adobe Premiere Pro, I also gained a unique operational experience. By binding sublayers to the parent layer, I was able to make multiple elements move synchronously, which was very helpful for creating coordinated dynamics in complex scenes.

Observations

I noticed that the control of time and the overall synchronization are extremely crucial. Even if the visual design is balanced, if the movements on the left and right sides are not synchronized or the smoothness is inconsistent, the overall picture will appear uncoordinated.

Findings

These exercises not only enabled me to review the relevant knowledge of motion effect design, but also served as a warm-up for the subsequent more complex compositing exercises. During the operation process, I was able to quickly recall the techniques I had learned before and apply them flexibly to the new projects, making my mastery of motion effects more proficient and confident.
