Task 3 Brief

Knowledge gained through design principles, we need to apply this knowledge by creating artwork through any type of medium, while conveying a visual message relevant to your UN Sustainable Development Goals and your creative purpose.

Visual References

Marine animals often mistake plastic for food and eat it. Plastic bags found at the bottom of the world's deepest ditch, even in the most remote ocean on Earth, are not immune to the dangers of plastic waste. Many Marine animals can also be strangled by discarded fishing gear or waste.

Final Design

I used contrast and emphasis in this design, where the brightness of the octopus contrasts with the coldness of the plastic waste, emphasizing the opposition between the beauty of the ocean and the pollution caused by the waste. The other half of the octopus is composed of garbage, and the detailed design expresses that Marine creatures can eat garbage, further guiding the audience's attention to the fragility of Marine ecology and the need for protection. The combination of the ocean and the plastic bag also hints at the close connection between humans and the environment, as well as the direct consequences of our actions. Implying that it is humanity's responsibility to protect the oceans. I think the whole Marine ecosystem is a fragile object, and through this design, I convey the idea of reducing pollution and protecting the ocean. So that we can achieve sustainable development.

Design Principle

Emphasis:

By choosing large font and location to emphasize the words "MARINE PROYECTION"  this is the focus of the entire design and conveys the core message.

Balance:

Although the image is asymmetrical, the design works by distributing visual weight on both sides. The visual elements on the left are balanced with the lighter visual elements on the right, conveying the stability of the structure.

Comparison:

The bright octopus on the left is in sharp contrast to the trash on the right.

Word and Image:

Text and images: The combination of text and images not only conveys a clear message, but also enhances the expressiveness of the design. The combination of the intuitiveness of the text and the visual impact of the image enhances the effective transmission of information.
